Clemson takes care of Pittsburgh 14-6

Clemson scored in each of its last seven innings at the plate as the Tigers defeated Pittsburgh 14-6 to win their 13th straight game at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Friday night.

Seth Beer gave the Tigers the lead for good in the third inning on his run-scoring double off the wall in left to extend his hitting streak to 22 games, tied for eighth longest in school history.

Beer drove in three runs.

With the Tigers (20-6, 6-4 ACC) ahead 7-5, they broke the game open with five runs in the fifth, highlighted by Reed Rohlman’s two-run single. Rohlman went 4-for-5 with three RBIs to pace Clemson, which had 16 hits.

Weston WIlson had two hits and two RBIs for Clemson.

Clemson starter Clate Schmidt (5-0) earned the win, allowing eight hits, six runs and no walks with five strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. Josh Falk (2-3) suffered the loss for Pittsburgh (12-10, 4-6). He gave up four runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings pitched.

The series continues Saturday at 4 p.m.
