Valpo transfer forward David Skara visiting Clemson
Former Valparaiso forward David Skara is taking a visit to Clemson Wednesday as he continues his tour of possible new homes. Skara has visited Richmond and also is drawing interest from Georgia Tech and TCU.
According to reports, Skara would like to join his former coach Bryce Drew at Vanderbilt but Valpo has blocked him from transferring to there or to another program in the Horizon League. Skara appealed to have the Vandy ban removed and a ruling on that is expected any day.
Skara is a native of Croatia. He battled injuries throughout last season and averaged 6.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. His best game came in the NIT semifinals when he scored 15 points off the bench and hit the winning 3-pointer in a victory over BYU.
As a freshman he averaged 5.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
Skara is one of at least three transfer targets for the Tigers. Friday 6-foot-11 center Chad Rykhoek, formerly of Baylor, is to visit, and next week 6-foot-5 shooting guard Dylan Smith, formerly of UNC-Asheville, plans to visit. Smith currently is on a visit to Arizona.
The spring signing period end May 16.
