Las Vegas QB pays visit to Clemson

Clemson is full at quarterback for the 2017 class, so the Tigers are searching for candidates for the Class of 2018.

One paid a visit to campus Saturday, as Dorian Thompson-Robinson (6-2, 195) of Las Vegas spent several hours with the Tigers getting to know them better and vice versa.

“Loved the current facility and saw the blueprints and stuff they’re building right now and fell in love with that,” Thompson-Robinson said. “I love how everything is family oriented there with Coach Dabo. And they are one of the few schools recruiting me the hardest right now. I talk to Coach Streeter weekly.”

Thompson-Robinson has not yet picked up a Clemson offer but that hasn’t diminished his interest in the program. He’s a dual-threat quarterback who sees a lot of ways his skill set will work in the Clemson offense.

“On my visit they showed me their depth chart and the guys they have committed and they think I’m the perfect fit and could be the next (Deshaun) Watson,” he said. “I think the same thing. That’s (the offense) pretty much the same thing I run right now at my high school so it wouldn’t be that much of a change in terms of concepts.”

Thompson-Robinson has offers from Colorado, Michigan State, Missouri and Utah. Oregon and UCLA are others involved and he’ll visit Oregon this summer. He has also visited Southern Cal, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Arizona State and UNLV. Right now he’s not rushing the issue and is willing to wait and see how things develop.

“I’m still open to everyone,” he said.

Thompson-Robinson actually is the backup at Bishop Gorman High, playing behind highly recruited and one-time Texas A&M commitment Tate Martell.
