Defensive back C.J. Avery of Grenada, Mississippi has his list down to Clemson, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Florida State and Louisville.

Clemson, Avery said, remains in regular contact. He exchanged text messages with defensive coordinator Brent Venables Monday night and Avery said Venables definitely will wants him as a safety.

Avery has set most of his official visits. He plans to visit Clemson for the Louisville game. He will go to Florida State for the Clemson game. He has not decided on a date for Louisville and he said he can go to the in state schools at any time.

Avery said all of the schools are working him about the same so none stands out from an interest standpoint.

"I feel like that gut feeling," Avery said when asked what will be the defining point for him in making his decision. He said at this point there is no front runner.

Avery, who had 5 interceptions and over 70 tackles last season, was at Clemson for a camp in June. He was invited to the All-In Cookout in July but couldn't make it.
