If South Carolina coach Will Muschamp and Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson talk after Saturday’s game, it will not be the first conversation between the two.
Muschamp tried to recruit Watson to Florida while Muschamp was the head coach of the Gators, Watson said Monday.
Watson grew up a Florida fan but committed to the Tigers early on in his high school career.
“I was always a big Urban Meyer fan with Tim Tebow in those days. As a young guy that’s where I wanted to go,” he said.
Watson added that he enjoyed his conversations with Muschamp during the recruiting process.
“Muschamp is a great coach and great guy that’s going to have those guys prepared,” Watson said. “They’re going to be very confident coming in here.”
