Newberry College baseball is making history.

The Wolves (41-14) will play in the Division II NCAA tournament for the first time in school history and will host a three-team, double-elimination regional that begins Thursday.

Newberry is a No. 2 seed in the Southeast Region of the event and was an at-large selection to the tournament after winning a school-record 41 games (including a 21-3 record in South Atlantic Conference play). It’s the team’s first postseason appearance since advancing to the NAIA World Series in 1977.

The Division II tournament includes 56 teams at 16 double-elimination regional sites. North Greenville, the No. 2 ranked team in the latest Division II poll, is the No. 1 seed in the Southeast Region and will host a regional.

The winners of the North Greenville and Newberry regionals will meet in a best-of-three super regional May 24-25 at the home site of the higher seed.
