UConn women coming to Columbia in February

The official website of the University of Connecticut women’s basketball team has released the Huskies’ schedule for the upcoming season, and it includes the date that the national champions will visit Columbia.

The Gamecocks will welcome the Huskies to Colonial Life Arena on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, according to uconnhuskies.com. It will be a matchup between two of last season’s Final Four participants. It will also be a rematch of last season’s showdown in Connecticut, when the Gamecocks suffered their first loss of the season, an 87-62 defeat.

Game time and television information are still to be determined.

South Carolina finished the 2014-15 season with a 34-3 record, shared the SEC regular season championship and won the SEC Tournament. The Gamecocks finished the season ranked No. 4 in the RPI and advanced to their first Final Four in school history.
