Florida Southern downs Benedict in South Regional final
Florida Southern used 3-pointers and free throws to defeat the Benedict women’s basketball team 63-56 on Monday night in the South Regional final of NCAA Division II Tournament in Jackson, Tenn.
Florida Southern hit 10-of 13 free throws, while shooting 40 percent (8 of 20) from the 3-point line. Benedict hit three 3-pointers, and was 3-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Dorothy Brown led Benedict with 10 points, while Regime McCombs added nine. Destiny Betts, KaDeeja Vaughn and Terri Jacobs had eight each for the Lady Tigers, who end their season at 29-3.
Jensen Blassage led Florida Southern (27-5) with 24 points.
