USC, Clemson selected to host NCAA baseball regionals

South Carolina and Clemson have been selected as two of 16 regional hosts for the 2016 NCAA Baseball Tournament, it was announced Sunday night.

National seeds and the full NCAA Tournament field will be announced Monday at noon on ESPNU.

This marks USC’s 31st NCAA tournament appearance, and the Gamecocks will be hosting a regional for the 17th time. This is the 11th time USC has hosted a regional since 1999, when the format was changed to regional-super regional.

South Carolina is 18-2 in the postseason at Founders Park, going 2-2 in 2014 after beginning a perfect 16-0.

The Gamecocks enter the NCAA tournament 42-15 on the year, including 30-4 at home.

“We are very excited to again be hosting a regional at Founders Park,” USC coach Chad Holbrook said in a statement. “Our players, coaches and staff have worked hard to earn this opportunity and I’m very proud of their accomplishments to put our program in this position. Hosting a regional in Columbia is special, and we look forward to an electric atmosphere at Founders Park and getting a chance to play in front of the Garnet & Black faithful.”

Clemson defeated Florida State 18-13 on Sunday to claim the Tigers’ 10th ACC Tournament Title.

Clemson will host a regional for the 14th time since 1980 and the first time since 2011. This is the Tigers’ 29th NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 30 years and the eighth in a row.

Clemson enters the NCAA tournament 42-18 and has won nine straight games. The Tigers are 24-7 playing at home on the year.

▪  Louisville, Kentucky – Louisville (47-12)

▪  Lubbock, Texas – Texas Tech (41-16)

▪  Nashville, Tennessee – Vanderbilt (43-17)

▪  Oxford, Mississippi – Ole Miss (43-17)

▪  Raleigh, North Carolina – North Carolina State (35-20)
