Benedict to host Livingstone College in Capital City Classic

Benedict will play host to Livingstone College at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 5 in the annual Palmetto Capital City Classic football game at Charlie W. Johnson Stadium.

Benedict was picked to finish third in the East Division of the SIAC at the annual SIAC Football Media Day this past week.

In a vote by the league's head coaches, the Tigers were picked to finish behind Albany State and Fort Valley State, and ahead of Morehouse and Clark Atlanta. Benedict also received two first-place votes.

In the West Division, defending SIAC champion Tuskegee was picked to finish first. Miles was picked to finish second in the West, followed by Stillman, Central State, Kentucky State and Lane.

Benedict did not have any players on preseason All-Conference football team.

James "Mike" White is the new head coach of the Tigers. Quarterback Brandon Thompson and receivers Maurice Griffin and Jevric Blocker are the team leaders.
