Would Zion Williamson rather get dunked on or crossed over?

Zion Williamson would rather not get dunked on or crossed over but made it clear which he would rather be on the wrong end of.

The question came up because Williamson and Duke are going up against 7-foot-6 Tacko Fall and Central Florida on Sunday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Fall said Friday night with Andy Katz he doesn’t want to be on one of Zion’s posterizing dunk.

“People know me for my athleticism, so if I get dunked on rather than getting crossed, it would be way worse,” Williamson. “So, I’m taking crossed.”

Williamson hasn’t had either happen to him much during his school or college career but he has dished plenty of both, especially dunks. He reflected on his first SportsCenter Top 10 dunk Saturday during a day off at the NCAA Tournament.

The dunk came in Columbia, where he and the Blue Devils play their second-round tournament game against UCF, when Williamson’s Spartanburg Day team played at Ben Lippen on Dec. 17, 2016.

Coming down on a fast break, Spartanburg Day’s Bishop Richardson threw up an ally-oop behind the three-point line to Williamson, who caught it and threw it down with a windmill slam setting the crowd into a frenzy.

“Ben Lippen was very physical and my teammate Bishop Richardson had caught the ball, I was running and he threw it,” Williamson recalled. “Something in my mind said I got to make this one special. So I caught it and actually made it. Then, I didn’t know what to do so I looked at the closest camera, smiled and turned around. I was surprised I made it.”

Williamson finished with 35 points and 16 rebounds in the game and has appeared on SportsCenter’s Top 10 players numerous times since.
