A South Carolina alum and former WLTX sports anchor and reporter is returning to the SEC.

Alyssa Lang has been hired by the SEC Network as a host and anchor for its studio show programming, the network announced Friday.

Lang will be the new host of SEC Featured on Monday nights and will have a supporting role in SEC Network’s studio show Thinking Out Loud. She will also do sideline reporting for the SEC Network.

Lang starts her new role next week. She will also serve as an anchor for WCNC in Charlotte this fall.

“The passion that comes with college football is a big reason why I got into sports broadcasting,” Lang said in the release. “Joining a team that eats, sleeps, and breathes [college football] is an absolute dream come true. I am so excited to join the SEC Network family, and look forward to an incredible first season.”

Lang will join the SEC Now anchor rotation following football season with Peter Burns and Dari Nowkhah.

The 25-year-old spent the previous two years working for First Coast News in Jacksonville. In addition to WLTX, she also previously spent time with SPEEDTV and GamecockCentral.com.

“Alyssa is a tremendous talent with a deep affinity for college sports and the SEC,” Baron Miller, SEC Network coordinating producer said. “One of our greatest strengths at SEC Network is the phenomenal people who our viewers welcome into their homes every night, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Alyssa to our family.”
