Clemson blanks Gamecocks

South Carolina fell in its first road match of the season, dropping a 3-0 decision at No. 9 Clemson on Friday at Riggs Field.

Oliver Shannon started the scoring for Clemson in the 26th minute. Austen Burnikle and Iman Mafi both assisted on the strike. That lead grew to 2-0 in the 33rd when TJ Casher’s strike found the post and deflected into the net.

Clemson made it 3-0 on Shannon’s second goal of the night, a shot from just inside the 18 that snuck past the Gamecocks on the inside post.

The Gamecocks (2-1) fired four shots on goal, two in each half.
