Gamecocks to host Furman in NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament
For the 21st time, the South Carolina men’s soccer team earned a bid in the NCAA Tournament, hosting a first-round match on Thursday against Furman, the NCAA announced.
The Gamecocks stand at 11-7-1, while the Paladins are 8-5-5 after winning the 2015 Southern Conference Tournament. The Gamecocks own an 18-8-4 mark in the series that dates back to the program’s first year. The two teams played once in the NCAA Tournament action, with South Carolina winning that first-round meeting in 1993, 1-0.
Game time is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday at Stone Stadium. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for college students with ID and youth 3-17. Youth ages 2 and under get in free.
South Carolina is one of four Conference USA teams to earn a spot in this year’s tourney.
