Gamecocks knocked out by Seminoles
South Carolina held the lead through five innings, but couldn’t hold off No. 7 Florida State in a 2-1 loss on Sunday at JoAnne Graf Field.
Kaylea Snaer led off the fourth with her 27th double of the year, and a passed ball put pinch runner Jordyn Augustus on third before Victoria Williams brought her home with a sacrifice fly to put the Gamecocks (38-23) on the board.
Florida State (51-8) came back in the sixth with two runs. Morgan Klaevemann drew a leadoff walk and scored on Alex Power’s game-tying RBI single. Sydney Broderick followed with a single, scoring Jessica Warren to put FSU ahead for good.
FSU’s Meghan King (24-3) posted a complete-game win, scattering six hits while giving up the one earned run. Jessica Elliott (18-10) took the loss, allowing two earned runs on three hits and two walks in two innings.
