Bay Daniel, Paige Bendell and Chelsea Drennan scored goals as South Carolina notched a 3-0 victory over N.C. State on Thursday night at Stone Stadium.

Savannah McCaskill tallied two assists for the Gamecocks (2-1).

Carolina opened the scoring in the 12th minute after McCaskill’s cross into the near post connected with Daniel, whose scored.

The Gamecocks made it 2-0 seven minutes later on a corner kick.

McCaskill’s play in the attacking led to another goal in the 56th minute on a pass to Drennan.

“I’m really proud of how we came out tonight,” coach Shelley Smith said. “We put pressure on them right away, and we found goals out of it. Early goals always help, and that allowed us to keep the pressure on.”
