KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee running back Alvin Kamara has an undisclosed injury that will sideline him for Saturday's game against South Carolina.

Volunteers coach Butch Jones said Monday Kamara wouldn't play against the Gamecocks (3-4, 1-4 SEC) but provided no details of the injury. Jones says "as of right now, he does not need surgery and we're anticipating him being back here in the next week or two."

Jones says he's "very, very encouraged" about the possibility of linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. playing Saturday. Kirkland has missed five games for the 18th-ranked Volunteers (5-2, 2-2) with a high ankle sprain.

Jones also is confident cornerback Cam Sutton will return soon from a fractured ankle that has sidelined him since mid-September. Jones said "from everything I'm being told, he'll only be out for a couple more weeks."
