Former Auburn defensive lineman Justin DeLaine transfers to West Alabama

AUBURN, Ala. — Former Auburn defensive end Justin DeLaine has found a new home.

DeLaine will transfer to West Alabama, the school announced in a press release on Monday.

"Justin gives us an experienced, mature player to add to the defensive front," West Alabama head coach Brett Gilliland said in a statement. "He has already earned his undergraduate degree from Auburn. We are excited to add him to the family."

DeLaine, a native of Linden, Ala., will enroll in West Alabama's graduate school and will be eligible to play immediately. It marks the second former Auburn player in two seasons to transfer to West Alabama. Safety Demetruce McNeal joined the team after he was dismissed from Auburn last August following an arrest on second-degree marijuana possession charges.

Last season, he appeared in seven games, collecting six tackles (two for loss) and a sack. In 2012, he participated in three games without recording any statistics. DeLaine was only able to play in two games during Auburn's 2011 campaign before suffering a season-ending injury against Mississippi State. DeLaine redshirted during the Tigers' 2010 BCS title season.

DeLaine took part in his first practice with his new teammates on Monday, as West Alabama kicked off its preseason camp.
