BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Ralph Webb hopes moving through the SEC’s front lines is as easy as the waters of the Great Barrier Reef.

“I had the opportunity to travel and study abroad this past May,” Vanderbilt’s redshirt sophomore tailback said Monday at SEC Media Days. “I got to do some things like snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef, canoe in the mangrove swamps. I went hunting in the mangrove swamps when there was low tide.”

Webb had a video highlight of himself snorkeling through a school of tropical fish, which drew a chuckle from SEC commissioner Greg Sankey. A longtime activist in watersports, Webb swam nearly as well as he rushed.

Webb piled up 912 yards, the seventh-best single-season total in Vanderbilt history, last year, then was chosen for a work study in Australia. He also took the camera along on a zipline through a forest.

He’s eager to get back to work on the field but wishes there were a few more days of the summer. While he worked out in Australia among the fun activities, he didn’t get to do a lot of his usual summer activities from growing up in Gainesville, Fla.

“I did wakeboarding, tube, ride jetskis, wake-surf, zipline from the house to the water,” Webb said. “I’ve had my fair share of water activities.”
