Georgia wide receivers are as talented off the field as they are on it.

Malcolm Mitchell brought his self-published children’s book, “The Magician’s Hat,” with him to SEC Media Days on Thursday. The book, spawned when Mitchell joined an Athens ladies’ book club while he was injured last year, encourages children to read.

“I’ve been encouraged by a lot of kids, going to their schools,” Mitchell said. “This is the product of that. This is what reading has done for me.”

Last year, Georgia wideout Chris Conley was the talk of Media Days with his self-produced “Star Wars” film on YouTube. Mitchell said he’d leave the movie rights to his book to Conley, but is looking forward to seeing how his book is received and wants to write another someday.

In the meantime, he hopes to play his senior year injury-free and will keep meeting with his book club. Next on his list is a re-reading of “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

“We just finished ‘The Girl on the Train,’” Mitchell said. “If I had to suggest (one for you to read), I’d say read ‘The Glass Castle.’ That’s by far my favorite.”
