USC Gamecocks Baseball

The latest NCAA Baseball Tournament projections

The South Carolina baseball team is awaiting its postseason fate.

According to Baseball America, the Gamecocks are one of the “first four teams out” along with Connecticut, Gonzaga and Maryland. Fellow SEC bubble team Ole Miss is also projected to miss the tournament.

D1Baseball also projects USC as missing the tournament.

The Gamecocks (35-25) were 13-17 the SEC regular season and 3-2 in tournament play. USC finished No. 31 in RPI and were 11-19 vs. teams in the top 50 RPI and 22-23 vs. the top 100.

There’s still a chance USC could get in “depending on how much the committee values RPI,” according to Baseball America.

“The Gamecocks, however, lost eight straight SEC series to end the season and could’ve benefited from another win in the Southeastern Conference Tournament,” Baseball America wrote.

Baseball America projects UCLA, Southeastern Louisiana, St. John’s and Miami as the “last four teams in.”

The NCAA Baseball Tournament selection show is noon Monday on ESPN2.
