Whit Merrifield boasts MLB season’s best hitting streak
Whit Merrifield kept it going.
The former South Carolina baseball star and current Kansas City Royal extended his hitting streak to 18 games with a fifth-inning double Saturday afternoon against Cleveland. That streak is the longest of any MLB player this season.

Merrifield has raised his average more than 84 points since the streak started. On the season, he was hitting .295 with six home runs going into Saturday.
