Top-rated catcher is first Gamecocks signee drafted
Catcher Luis Campusano of Augusta, Ga., was the first South Carolina baseball signee selected in the 2017 MLB Draft.
Campusano went in the second round Monday, or No. 39 overall, to the San Diego Padres.
The slot value at that spot is $1,760,700, and Campusano is expected to sign and bypass college.
The Padres take Luis Campusano Brasero, maybe the top catcher prospect in this year's Draft, at No. 39 overall.
