South Carolina and the College of Charleston have had discussions about playing a baseball game next season at Spirit Communications Park in Columbia, The State confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
Talks about playing a game at Spirit Communications Park are preliminary at this point, the source said. The Columbia Fireflies, the Mets Single-A team that plays at Spirit Communications Park, have not been brought into the discussions.
A meeting between the College of Charleston and USC would see former Gamecocks head coach Chad Holbrook return to Columbia.
Holbrook was hired as Charleston’s head coach in July after resigning as South Carolina’s head coach in June.
