No timetable for Max Schrock’s return
The playing status of junior second baseman Max Schrock remains unclear for the upcoming home series against Auburn.
Schrock missed the Saturday and Sunday losses against Tennessee because of a left Achilles tendon strain. He came out of Friday’s game after going 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in the 4-0 win.
USC coach Chad Holbrook is worried about possibly losing another of the team’s top players.
“It’s very concerning because of where it is, the Achilles tendon. It’s something you have to really be very cautious with, because it’s a tough injury to rush somebody back into the lineup,” Holbrook said. “If you re-injure that thing, you’re looking at a very significant amount of time away from playing. I have to look at what I feel is best for Max. We’ll follow the trainer’s advice and see if he can get a good week of treatment here.”
