USC Gamecocks Baseball

He was a key reserve for Gamecocks baseball this spring. Now he’s transferring

In his final junior college season before joining South Carolina’s baseball program, Anthony Amicangelo was a nearly .500 hitter.

Now Amicangelo and that bat will be leaving the Gamecocks.

Amicangelo announced on Twitter he is transferring after an abbreviated single season. The Washington product was one of Mark Kingston’s top bench players.

Amicangelo played in 14 of South Carolina’s 16 games, starting five. He hit .280 with a .379 on-base percentage and ranked 12th on the team in at-bats.

Kingston had spoken highly of his skillset in the preseason, saying he was a high-end bat available in the lineup.
