USC commitment signs contract with Mariners

Nick Neidert, a South Carolina baseball commitment from Peach Ridge, Ga., has signed with the Seattle Mariners for signing bonus of $1.2 million.

Neidert, a right-handed pitcher with a fastball that has reached 96 mph, was picked in the second round (No. 60 overall pick) by Seattle.

He is the second commitment the Gamecocks have lost to the pros. Pitcher Logan Allen, a left-handed pitcher who was selected in the eighth round, earlier signed with the Boston Red Sox for a signing bonus between $725,000-$750,000.
