South Carolina baseball adding veteran transfer from SEC school
South Carolina baseball is adding a player from one of its Southeastern Conference schools to its roster.
Vanderbilt first baseman Parker Noland will transfer to the Gamecocks, he confirmed to The State on Friday. GamecockCentral was the first to report on the move. Noland entered the transfer porter on June 21.
Noland is a grad transfer and will have one year of eligibility left. He is the third former Vandy player to transfer to the Gamecocks in the last few years, joining Matt Hogan and Gavin Casas.
Noland hit .277 with nine homers and 39 RBIs this season in 61 games played. He appeared in 192 games during his time with the Commodores.
Noland was SEC Player of the Week in March after hitting a pair of grand slams and driving in 11 runs against Mississippi State on March 24. He was the first SEC player to hit two grand slams in a game since 2013.
The Miami Marlins drafted Noland coming out of high school in Tennessee in the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft. He was the state’s Mr. Baseball in 2018.
