One of South Carolina baseball’s veteran infielders is hitting the transfer portal.

Will Tippett announced Friday on social media that he is leaving the program and will enter the transfer portal. Tippett has one year of eligibility left.

The transfer portal officially opens for baseball players on June 2.

“Thank you Gamecock Baseball for my time at Carolina. Thank you to the coaches, staff, teammates, and fans that supported me during my career,” Tippett said. “I am entering the transfer portal and I’m excited for my next opportunity to get to work.”

Tippett played in 95 games during his first two seasons but saw action in only 24 games this year with 39 at-bats and hit just .179.

In three seasons, Tippett hit .181 with 11 home runs and 45 RBIs.

Tippett is the sixth Gamecock to announce he will be transferring, joining pitcher Roman Kimbell, P Wyatt Evans, OF, Tyler June, INF, Cayden Gaskin and C Ryan Bakes.

Three key Gamecocks have previously announced they will be returning - INF, KJ Scobey, INF Beau Hollins and C Talmadge LeCroy, who missed most of the season with injuries.
