Free food, a fireworks show and a limited-edition T-shirt. Yep, South Carolina is planning to introduce new baseball coach Kevin Schnall in a big way.

A free fan event to welcome Schnall is planned for 8:30 p.m. Friday at Founders Park. (Location subject to change because of weather.) The former Coastal Carolina coach’s first USC contract was officially approved on Wednesday.

Schnall and Athletic Director Jeremiah Donati will speak to fans, and a fireworks show will wrap up the event. There will also be “video features and many of the traditions Gamecock fans have come to enjoy at Carolina home events, including rally towels, Sandstorm and more,” USC said in a press release.

Gate 1 of Founders Park (at the corner of Wheat and Williams streets) will open at 7:30 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served in Sections 9-15. Parking will be available for free in Lot 1, which is located on Williams Street near Blossom Street.

Free hot dogs, popcorn, pretzels, fountain sodas and water will be available at the first base concessions stand (and beer will be available for purchase). A limited number of free “Schnall Ball” T-shirt will be given to fans in attendance.

USC’s clear bag policy will be in effect.
