South Carolina baseball has landed one of the best available prospects out of the transfer portal.

Texas Tech’s Connor Shouse announced his commitment to Kevin Schnall and the Gamecocks on social media Saturday. Shouse is listed as an infielder but he also pitches and plays in the outfield. His pledge to South Carolina came after he visited Columbia the final week of June.

“Decision made. Spurs Up!” Shouse posted on X/Twitter.

Shouse was the No. 1 ranked player transfer portal, according to 64 Analytics. His WAR rating — or wins above replacement, a statistic that attempts to measure a player’s total value — made him the No. 7-ranked player in the transfer portal by D1Baseball.

The utility player was named to the All Big-12 First Team in 2026 after he hit .353 with 10 home runs and 66 RBIs. Those numbers would’ve been the best, or tied for the best, on South Carolina’s squad this past season. Shouse tallied 76 hits, 18 of which were doubles, and recorded a slugging percentage of .595.

On the mound, Shouse recorded a 5.87 ERA in 11 appearances. He tallied three saves in 15.1 innings of work, struck out 16 batters and held opposing hitters to a .245 batting average.

The Jasper, Georgia native started his college career at Georgia Tech in 2025. Shouse played in 25 games for the Yellow Jackets. He hit .265 and pitched three innings during his freshman season in Atlanta.

Shouse projects as immediate starting lineup material for the Gamecocks.
