South Carolina 2016 baseball schedule released
South Carolina will face three of the eight teams that reached the College World Series last season, including opening SEC play by hosting CWS participant Arkansas March 18-20, USC announced Wednesday.
The Gamecocks will open the season with a three-game series against Albany Feb. 19-21 as part of 35 games to be played at Founders Park.
Carolina will host Clemson March 4, face the Tigers in Greenville on March 5 and travel to Clemson on March 6 in the annual rivalry series.
In total, South Carolina will face eight teams that reached the NCAA tournament last year. Carolina will host College World Series participant Florida and travel to national runner-up Vanderbilt.
In addition to Clemson, USC will face in-state schools Winthrop, The Citadel, Wofford, Furman, Charleston Southern, USC Upstate, College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina and Presbyterian.
Carolina will face The Citadel in Charleston on March 1 and play USC Upstate at Fluor Field in Greenville on March 15. The Gamecocks will make a return trip to Fluor Field to face Furman on April 20.
In SEC play, the Gamecocks will host Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Florida and Texas A&M, and travel to Ole Miss, Vandy, Georgia, Kentucky and Alabama.
As was announced last week, USC will play North Carolina in Charlotte at BB&T Ballpark on April 12.
The full TV schedule will be released on a later date.
