South Carolina is mixing up its starting pitching rotation for this weekend’s home baseball series against Charleston Southern.

Freshman Adam Hill (3-0) joins the rotation and is slated to start Sunday against the Buccaneers, USC announced on Thursday. Hill has won all his midweek starts and has a 0.64 ERA to go with 24 strikeouts, one earned run and two walks in 14 innings of work.

Junior Taylor Widener was 0-1 with a 4.26 in his three Sunday starts this season. He has struck out 12 in 12 2/3 innings pitched, allowing 13 hits and six earned runs.

Clarke Schmidt (3-0) and Braden Webb (2-1) remain the Friday and Saturday starters, respectively. Hill, from T.L. Hannah High in Anderson, threw 41 pitches in three innings Tuesday in the win over Wofford.

“We wanted to save the number of pitches so he’ll be fresh and ready to go,” Holbrook said after the game.

Times for the three-game series are 7 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 p.m. Sunday. All three will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.
