South Carolina freshman pitcher Adam Hill has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week after earning a pair of wins last week.

In the two victories over Wofford and Charleston Southern, Hill pitched 8 1/3 innings while allowing seven hits and only one run. He struck out 13 and walked one batter in the two games.

The Anderson native is off to an exceptional start to his South Carolina career, going 4-0 with a 0.47 ERA through four outings. He is tied for the team lead in strikeouts with 32 in 19 1/3 innings.

Opponents are hitting .185 against Hill, and he has allowed just one extra-base hit, a double.

Hill began the season as a midweek starter but has moved into the Sunday starter role.

He made his first weekend start Sunday against Charleston Southern and allowed four hits and one walk in 5 1/3 innings while striking out eight.

Hill is expected to start Sunday against Arkansas as the Gamecocks open SEC play this weekend.
