South Carolina baseball drops in polls after tough week

South Carolina dropped in the college baseball polls after a disappointing 1-3 week that concluded with back-to-back losses to Georgia.

The Gamecocks are now ranked No. 12 by both Baseball America and D1Baseball.com. USC was previously ranked No. 5 by Baseball America and No. 8 by D1Baseball.com.

Despite falling in the polls, Carolina is No. 5 in the NCAA RPI, only dropping three spots from last Monday.

South Carolina was outscored 34-10 in four games last week and suffered its worst loss since 2007, losing 15-0 to North Carolina on Wednesday night in Charlotte.

South Carolina will look to bounce back this week as it plays Furman Wednesday night at Fluor Field in Greenville before returning to SEC action this weekend, hosting Missouri.

The Gamecocks have back-to-back home SEC series as Carolina hosts Missouri this upcoming weekend and Florida next weekend.

South Carolina is 22-1 at home this season with its only loss coming in extra innings to College of Charleston.
