USC baseball back in top 10, will host No. 1 Florida this weekend

South Carolina is back in the top 10 after going 4-0 last week with a win over Furman and three over Missouri.

The Gamecocks are ranked No. 6 by Baseball America, No. 7 by D1Baseball.com and No. 8 by Perfect Game.

South Carolina’s opponent for this weekend, Florida, is ranked No. 1 in all three polls. The two teams will meet in a three-game series beginning Friday night at Founders Park.

Florida is also No. 1 in the RPI, while Carolina is No. 3.

The two teams also are at the top of the SEC standings, with South Carolina holding a one-game lead over the Gators entering this weekend’s series.

USC is 33-8 (14-4) and has already surpassed last year’s win total for overall wins and conference wins.

The Gamecocks do not have a midweek game this week due to exams.
