Bad weather cancels USC-Florida finale; series ends in tie
Game 3 between No. 6 South Carolina and No. 1 Florida has been canceled due to weather and will not be made up.
The two teams, who sit atop the SEC standings, were tied at 0 in the bottom of the fourth inning when the game entered a weather delay at 3:39 p.m. Sunday. The start of the game was postponed for an hour due to lightning in the area.
Florida won Game 1 of the series 5-4 Friday night, while USC bounced back to win the second game 2-1 on Saturday. The Gamecocks sit at 15-5 in the SEC, while Florida is 14-6 with three SEC series remaining.
South Carolina returns to action Wednesday, hosting USC Upstate. The Gamecocks resume conference play next weekend at Kentucky and will host Texas A&M before ending the season at Alabama.
Florida still has conference series remaining at Tennessee, at home against Vanderbilt and at LSU.
