South Carolina baseball projected as national seed
South Carolina is projected to be a national seed in the NCAA tournament, according to Baseball America and D1Baseball.com.
The Gamecocks are projected as the No. 3 national seed by Baseball America, while D1Baseball.com has USC as the No. 7 national seed.
If Carolina ends up as a national seed, it will play at home in the regional and super regional and would not go on the road until, potentially, the College World Series.
Baseball America projects the No. 2 seed in South Carolina’s regional to be UNC Wilmington, followed by Wake Forest and Kennesaw State. The Columbia regional would be matched up with Coastal Carolina’s regional, according to Baseball America.
D1baseball.com has North Carolina, Long Beach State and Binghamton joining the Gamecocks in Columbia with USC’s regional matched up with N.C. State’s.
No. 8 South Carolina is 37-11 on the year entering this weekend’s three-game series with second-ranked Texas A&M.
The Gamecocks are tied atop the SEC standings with Florida. Both teams have a 16-7 league record.
The Aggies enter this weekend’s series a half-game back in the SEC standings at 16-8.
