NOTES

▪  South Carolina isn’t expected to use any of its top pitchers Tuesday as Chad Holbrook wants his best arms ready to go this weekend for the final SEC series of the season. The Gamecocks will also be without outfielder TJ Hopkins, who is day-to-day after leaving Sunday’s game with a right knee injury.

▪  USC is one game back of Florida in the SEC East standings. The Gamecocks will host The Citadel on Tuesday and leave Wednesday morning for Alabama. Carolina plays a three-game series with the Crimson Tide beginning Thursday.

▪  The Bulldogs have lost 10 of their past 11 games, including four straight. The Citadel was swept by Samford at home over the weekend.

▪ The teams met earlier this season, with South Carolina earning a 6-3 win. The Citadel did win two of three games against Virginia Tech to open the season.
