South Carolina is still projected to be a national seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament entering the final weekend of SEC play.

D1Baseball.com and Perfect Game have the Gamecocks as the eighth and final national seed, while Baseball America has USC as the No. 7 national seed.

The D1Baseball.com projections have South Carolina hosting UNC Wilmington, North Carolina and VCU in the Columbia Regional with the winner advancing to face whoever comes out of the Raleigh Regional hosted by NC State.

Baseball America has the Gamecocks joined by UNC Wilmington, Wake Forest and Kennesaw State in Columbia, and USC would host the winner of Coastal Carolina’s Regional if it were to advance. Baseball America projects Clemson to join Coastal Carolina as the No. 2 seed in Conway.

Perfect Game does not project the entire field but does have South Carolina as the No. 8 national seed.

If the Gamecocks earn a national seed they would not have to travel in the NCAA tournament until the College World Series, should they continue to advance.

South Carolina travels to Alabama this weekend for a three-game series with the Crimson Tide, which begins Thursday night.

The Gamecocks are currently fourth in the SEC and second in the SEC East, trailing Florida by a game and Mississippi State and Texas A&M by a half-game.

USC is 39-13 overall and 17-9 in the conference with an RPI of No. 7 heading into its series with Alabama.
