Gamecocks move up in polls after sweeping Alabama
South Carolina baseball moved up in the polls after going 4-0 last week, including a road sweep of Alabama.
The Gamecocks are now ranked No. 9 by Baseball America and D1Baseball.com, rising from No. 10 and No. 11, respectively.
Carolina moved up one spot to No. 7 in the Perfect Game poll, and USC is No. 5 in the NCAA RPI, jumping up two spots from last week.
South Carolina has finished the regular season and will begin postseason play this week at the SEC tournament. The Gamecocks, who clinched the SEC East title over the weekend, open the SEC tourney Wednesday against the winner of Ole Miss and Georgia.
USC is almost guaranteed to host a regional in the NCAA tournament and has a good shot to earn a top eight national seed. A strong showing in Hoover would help South Carolina’s chances to play at Founders Park throughout the NCAA tournament, potentially until the College World Series.
