Jackie Bradley Jr. extends hit streak to career-best 29 games
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. has extended his hitting streak to a career-best 29 games with a single Wednesday night against the Colorado Rockies.
It’s the longest hitting streak in the majors this season and tied with Johnny Damon (2005) for the fourth-longest in Red Sox history. Dom DiMaggio holds the franchise record with a 34-game streak in 1949. DiMaggio’s brother, Joe, hit in 56 straight games in 1941 for the major league record.
Bradley lined Chad Bettis’ first pitch of his at-bat in the fourth inning past third baseman Nolan Arenado and into left field to keep the streak going.
Bradley finished the game going 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. He’ll look to extend his hitting streak to 30 consecutive games today when he goes against Colorado right hander Jon Gray (1-2, 6.75).
