Ex-Gamecock Max Schrock traded to Oakland A’s from Washington
Former South Carolina second baseman Max Schrock is on the move.
He was traded Thursday by the Washington Nationals, the team that drafted him in 2015, to the Oakland Athletics for right-handed pitcher Marc Rzepczynski and cash. He was playing for the Potomac Nationals, a high-A ball team.

A former 13th-round draft pick, Schrock was rated as the No. 30 prospect in Washington’s organization.
In 121 games, Schrock hit .333 with nine home runs, 22 steals and 42 extra-base hits. With the Gamecocks, he earned second-team All-SEC honors in 2015, hitting .328 with an on-base percentage of .419.
