Carolina Stadium featured in Baseball America calendar
South Carolina baseball fans know the collegiate season starts in February, so it's only fitting that Carolina Stadium is featured in that month as part of Baseball America's 2015 "Great Parks" calendar.
Each month of the calendar features a color photograph of either a professional or college ballpark. An emphasis is placed on newer parks that have been built across North America.
The Gamecocks begin their 36-game home schedule Feb. 13 against the College of Charleston in Carolina Stadium, which opened in 2009 with a capacity of 8,242. The baseball program has ranked in the top five in attendance nationally since its opening.
The Palmetto State also has another representative in the calendar -- Greenville's Fluor Field, the home to the Single-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox in the South Atlantic League. The Gamecocks will play two games there this season: Feb. 28 against Clemson and April 21 against Furman.
The calendar, which costs $14.95, can be ordered online here.
