Terry Googer explains meaning behind ‘near death’ Tweet

A positive Tweet by South Carolina receiver Terry Googer carried a serious meaning.

Googer on Sunday shared a photo of him before the Kentucky game and a caption of, “Went from near death to living a dream.”

“It happened when I was younger,” Googer said. “When I was younger I had a close encounter with death, five minutes away. I was able to overcome it. I’m here now. I’m thankful and blessed.”

The sophomore from Atlanta made his third career start Saturday against Kentucky. He has played in all four games this season, collecting two receptions for 21 yards.

He caught five passes for 74 yards last season as a redshirt freshman.
