Williams-Brice Stadium signage damaged during storm
Williams-Brice Stadium took another hit from windy weather.
The signage of the South Carolina football stadium’s press box was damaged Saturday from the effects of Hurricane Matthew, with three letters blown off from the word GAMECOCKS. Now missing are the G, O and first C.
It was the only known damage to a stadium that’s set to host a rare Sunday game between South Carolina (2-3, 1-3 SEC) and Georgia (3-2, 1-2) at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The game was moved one day due to the projected impact of Hurricane Matthew on the state Saturday.
On Saturday, the Gamecocks were set to hold a walk through in their indoor practice facility in the morning before returning to the team hotel for lunch. The team’s support staff will then set up chairs and televisions in a ballroom so the players can either watch other college football games in groups or return to their hotel rooms. Saturday evening, the team will have a 6 p.m. meal and go through its regular pregame routine.
Georgia’s football team was set to arrive in Columbia on Saturday. The game will be televised on SEC Network.
