Giles suspended for Alabama game
USC freshman tailback Jarvis Giles is suspended for the Alabama game for an undisclosed violation of team and university policy, media relations director Steve Fink said Friday.
The suspension is related to academics, according to sources close to the team.
Fink said Giles would not make the trip to Tuscaloosa. Giles is the Gamecocks’ second-leading rusher with 245 yards on 42 carries.
USC again will be without starting cornerback Akeem Auguste, who is serving the final game of a three-game suspension.
Giles’ suspension follows Thursday’s news that starting offensive lineman Heath Batchelor has left the team. Batchelor told friends that football is no longer enjoyable to him, according to a source close to the player.
