South Carolina football: Rico Dowdle update

South Carolina sophomore running back Rico Dowdle is expected to be healthy in time to play in the Gamecocks bowl game.

“I think we will get K.C. (Crosby) and Rico back for the bowl game,” Muschamp said Tuesday night on his “Carolina Calls” radio show. “Both of those guys look really good.”

Muschamp had previously announced he expected Crosby, a junior tight end to return, but Tuesday was his most definitive statement on Dowdle. Both players suffered broken fibula bones. Crosby was injured in the Oct. 7 Arkansas game, and Dowdle was hurt the next game, Oct. 14 against Tennessee.

Dowdle started four games and rushed 60 times for 206 yards before his injury.

In other injury news, South Carolina will get cornerback Jamyest Williams (shoulder) back for the Clemson game on Saturday. Linebacker Antoine Wilder (dislocated elbow) won’t play.
