Gamecocks commit Dakereon Joyner speaks out on ‘rumors’ following Roper departure
It only makes sense. A college position coach leaves, and some of his recruits might start to reconsider.
South Carolina cut ties with offensive coordinator Kurt Roper on Wednesday. The team’s quarterback commit, Dakereon Joyner, is one of the jewels of the class.
So Joyner felt compelled to address the situation Wednesday night.

Joyner is a four-star prospect.
The Fort Dorchester quarterback put up big numbers during his senior season. Joyner completed 133 of 205 passes for 2,376 yards and 31 touchdowns. On the ground, he ran 149 times for 980 yards and 18 touchdowns.
For his career, Joyner accounted for 13,170 total career yards and 159 TDs. He was 40-3 as a starting quarterback.
