ESPN: Gamecocks assistant talked with Oklahoma State about defensive coordinator job
South Carolina defensive line coach Lance Thompson has been well-traveled around the southeast through a long career with at least 10 stops.
According to an ESPN report, he’s at least a candidate for another.
ESPN’s Jake Trotter tweeted Thompson has spoken to and is one of at least six candidate for the open defensive coordinator job at Oklahoma State. The Cowboys parted ways with Glenn Spencer, who became coordinator in 2011.

Thompson’s only time as a defensive coordinator was at Central Florida from 2004-2006. He worked with Will Muschamp at Auburn in 2015 and was brought along when Muschamp took the USC job.
Thompson just recently got a raise from $500,000 to $550,000. According to USA Today, Spencer made $675,000.
